IMO if you only have one chance in Earth, it's totally fair to wanna hold on to your first time, one of the reasons I wanna look good so much is because I'm highkey scared of the idea of finding the ideal (also virgin) wife and not being good looking enough to pull her yknow, after all if a good looking woman stayed virgin for like 20+ years she must have high standarts. Idk how things are in the country yall post from, but I've met people that lost their virginity at 12, 15 and less. I may sound like a total GEEK for saying all of this but dude, I think sex must be way better if you have only done it with the person you love the most. Waiting for marriage is amazing IMO, but you also can't expect people to actually do it. Things happen.

It used to be a very common thing especially for christians but nowadays it's very neglected and kids lose their virginity before even turning an adult. (i myself lost it at 15)

I think it's easy to remain a virgin if you're already a virgin, but it's harder to find people who are virgins. I know entering a relationship and having NO sex is not appealing to a lot of people, even religious people. Unless it's an arranged marriage, most people get married after like a year or something.
