There are two things I love in this world. Diet beverages and writing about my interests.

I'm taking a media class, and one of our first discussions is directly related to how beauty is a currency in society

The prompt is, "In the article, Globalizing Beauty: A Cultural History of the Global Beauty Industry, Frith writes, 'It can be argued that beauty is a currency in every society (p. 3, 2014). Please discuss what is meant by this statement, and provide your thoughts on whether it is true. Also, briefly explain why you think it is true or not."

How tf do I respond to this without going into a tangent? Need to maintain some normalcy bruh

They're trying to sniff out the looksmaxxing nerds. It's over for you.

Just mention the halo effect without going too much into the blackpill theories. Go into the mindset you're a 50 yo something researcher that does a paper on it but knows nothing about looksmaxxing.

there is a lot there i believe about all that stuff. looksmaxxin terms and such would be the main thing tippin em off that it's not "normal."

i would review typical articles written by mainstream news if you're writing in a more casual tone. okcupid used to publish stuff about data on their site, for an example. one that comes to mind immediately is the attractiveness vs reaction one. they obviously have an incentive, so keep that in mind. but the article explained that if there's a universally "cute" woman, she tends to get less messages. a woman of similar score but had a big difference in who found her attractive would typically get x2 the messages or so.

in reference to currency, im not entirely sure. i know a woman who sees a man is REALLY into her due to a specific or controversial aesthetic, i imagine that's the currency depending on how it's used.

most beauty of women and the comparison of currency is generally objectifying. beauty is set by the observer and changes among culture. currency means there's some type of gain. trust, can be one. people assume beautiful people are more trustworthy. etc
