we didnt intend for the site to have any members at this stage, and we're thankful we do but our priorities are on the site in various different ways that do not include user or post counts

A smaller cult following is preferred. You must want believers, not bandwagoners.

our current goals are focused on accessibility and technical quality of life for our users, especially those whose first introduction would be our site in some way or aren't tech literate.

lurkers or casual viewers who are just mildly curious or wondering is the main target audience, and we need to plan around how we can create a site that's built around this audience but also allows it to align with a lot of other beliefs:

accessibility of information of all knowledge sets, including creating information in a way that allows people to truly grasp the core points
user friendly website that also allows great customization
privacy, the right to know, and the right to refuse
moderation and automation

right now, i feel this site is incredibly far from where we want to be, and a majority of it stems from not being prepared for users. people believe activity is our least cared for goal because it is. we want a foundation that holds not an engagement fixated platform.

we hope the current users understand and bare with us, but we understand our goals are too important to us for compromise on, and will come at the expense of activity.

I was more so aiming at the idea that it's easy to brainwash a smaller audience into an army, but I do like to hear that you are focusing on user comfort right now.
You need to start selling "ascension" guides ASAP.
