It doesn’t matter if your nails are short or long, but if they look healthy and polished. You don’t have to make your own nails, but if you want to, in this guide I will teach you how to do your own hybrid nails. It’s much cheaper and easy than in salon

1. What you will need?

UV lamp

Nail buffer

E-file and assorted bits / cuticle nippers

Nails file

Dehydrator

Nail cleaner

Nail brushes (optional)

Hybrid base coat and Top coat

Hybrid color polish

Lint-free pads

Cuticle pusher

2. How to make them step by step

First of all, you need to file your nails. The most basic shapes are square and oval. Here are tutorials how to properly file them:

This are in my opinion begginer friendly options.

If you’ve already made the shape you want it’s time to push back cuticles, and trim them. Trimming cuticles is much easier with e-file, but you can also use cuticle nippers. The only problem with e-file is that it costs much, so it’s not a good option if you want to make nails on a budget.

If you prepped the nails, you can now go to the next step which is buffing and cleaning nails. Use a buffer block to lightly remove the natural shine from your nail plate. Wipe away dust and thoroughly degrease the nails using a lint-free pad soaked in Nail Cleaner. Then add dehydrator and wait about 1 - 2 minutes before it starts to work.

Now the fun begins - it’s time to finally paint nails. First, apply the base coat, put it inside your lamp, but REMEMBER - KEEP THE POLISH OF YOUR CUTICLES!!! Now wait about 1 minute inside your lamp.

PROTIP: Every UV gel is a liquid before you put it in the lamp and might spill into your cuticles so I like to paint and put in the lamp every nail apart. It might take a lot of time, but pretty nails are worth it.

It’s finally time to apply color and hold it in lamp for about 2 minutes. The most classic nails are french tips (for this you need nail brushes), thats my personal favourite, but any color that complements your skin will be good. Of course if you want to go extra with your nails, paint something or use interesting color, that will also look good, if your nails are made neat. Here are the most classic colors that look good and classy everytime:

  • burgundy
  • nude colors
  • shades of brown
  • navy

Now It,s time to put on Top coat and wait 90 seconds with nails under the lamp. Nails are almost ready, the only thing left is using cuticle oil on your cuticles. In other post I will write how to take them off.
