France was where Pol Pot studied philosophy along with other notable individuals in the Khmer before the formation of the Khmer Rouge. There was a good decade where French academia was turning out more radicals than anywhere else in the world, arguably rivaling the CIA. Devi is definitely a niche find in most circles.
