I'm starting an Associate Degree in Software Engineering this January. Do you have any tips on how to make the most of a 2-year program and stand out to employers?
We need to actually understand how our brain learns to realize that acing your degree requires forcing your brain to change through real mental strain rather than just trying to memorize facts. Your brain simply won't change its wiring unless you force it to struggle with a hard task. When you actively try to figure out a problem without looking at the answer, that frustrating feeling of making mistakes actually triggers the release of brain chemicals like epinephrine and acetylcholine. These chemicals act like an alarm telling your brain to change and adapt. Just reading a textbook or watching a coding tutorial doesn't create any mental friction, so your brain doesn't bother keeping the information. The actual physical step where your brain locks this knowledge in speeds up connections, and clears out the wrong logic patterns happens during deep sleep.I'm starting an Associate Degree in Software Engineering this January.
