"let them"
such a stupid phrase. i let any conflicts go, i let go of any expectations, and i buried all hopes of her understanding how alone she makes me feel.
i have a friend who only likes to be around when it's convenient. i always liked how in our dynamic she's the one talking and i'm the one listening. she asked me personal questions from time to time, but the conversation would always steer back to her and her boy troubles. i don't think she considered the possibility that i could experience those troubles myself.
she is a bright girl. intelligent. caring. thoughtful. but she's also distant. "busy". and likes to lie. it didn't bother me much until i realized how often she lied to me. i'd send her messages and all of a sudden she doesn't use her phone often, but always has time to respond to guys. i'd send her videos; they'd pile up while she opened all the ones her situationship would send.
it's a lot of little patterns that spiraled out of control. but shed be kind in person! until that time dwindled to fewer and fewer hangouts with nothing in between. id send texts to be met with a few-word response. ignored. but all my social media posts are liked and occasionally commented on to prove how much she cares for me.
recently i had a terrifying experience with an online crazy. id text her updates about how worried i was that something would happen. i asked her for help. our last exchange was last month. i texted her, updating her that it had progressed. she responded with "wow" and i sent an "ikr" back. it's been radio silent since then.
i'm really hurt. she was my only real-life friend. i find it so difficult to build relationships. and im sad that the one person i wanted to understand me can't even grace me with a response. i don't know what to do anymore.
