jobs will always prefer you coming in person to ask for an application

make sure to follow up on your application after a week
they like to see actual interest so a quick call/message something along the lines of "hi, it's [name], calling to follow up on my application and to thank you for the opportunity." has always helped me

don't be afraid to bullshit a little in your interview
for example, they will ask you about yourself and your strong suits. i always say something like "i work well with others and appreciate a fast-paced environment"
obviously no i don't but it sounds good
also if you are trying to go for an entry level job (fast food or retail), go on their website and look for the subsection "core values" and say something from there
