Brain fog…

I have questions and you might have answers.

We know the feeling of being ill all too well. Some more than others. But, what are your favorite coping mechanisms for when your brain has no energy?

common symptoms are poor memory, lack of focus, confusion, difficulty concentrating, and fatigue

feels like your mind being wiped out after getting wrapped around a pole.

this can impact your daily life and mood heavily, preventing you from getting your necessities done. sucks to be bedridden on Christmas though.

The most common causes stem from
illness (my case)
★ nutritional deficiencies like iron, vit B12, folate, and omega threes
★ lifestyle factors - moving your body, managing stress, and getting an adequate amount of sleep
hormones
★ medications

most of the tips I found sounded like cope.
duh I want to sleep ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁, but I’ve already had a twelve hour rest and my body won’t let me function any more efficiently with more rest.

› meditation
doesn’t seem to help much. still feels like I’m getting a lobotomy

›staying hydrated
just lol. same bad advice that is given to people with acne

the only thing I will add is that I don’t think I want to give up coffee rn, those 80mg are the only reason I’m semi alive rn.
so thank you kind readers and all suggestions are welcome!!

Side note: there’s an interesting article I read about the long lasting effects of Covid and brain fog, so if you’re curious I’ll link it… but that’s a separate rabbit hole

First, difficult to say without you explaining what disease(s) you fight against, what medication(s) do you use, and how a complete blood & hormonal panel test will be helpful to spot triggers like a Vitamin D and/or Iron mal-absorption or microdificiency, for example.

Brain fogs are often deep rooted with their positive or negative connection to the intestines, the so called gut microbiome

Called the 2nd brain, and influence the whole body health.

Meaning your intestines bacterias are unbalanced, you have more bad bacterias than good bacterias, meaning you'll feel more stress, inflammation, brain fogs and so on.

In theory, it could be solved by removing drugs, alcohol, medications, artificial sweeteners, gluten, lactose etc from your diet, those who kill good bacterias and try to add pre, pro and postbiotics* in your diet like any type of fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, fermented milk (where lactose is degraded by the ferments) like cheese and kefir and gluten-free sourdough like buckwheat bread, or tempeh, miso, kombucha etc.

*(Prebiotics are high in unsoluble fibers, not used by the body but used my microbiome's micro organisms, prebiotics are already fermented foods and postbiotics are a post production by those microbiome's micro organisms, who create several non-essential amino acids, vitamin k, folate, biotin and b12)

You should try caffeine alternatives like Tea, Yerba Maté and/or Guarana, who work the same than caffeine, and/or the so called Mushroom Coffee, who use adaptogens, people claim it reduced their brain fog.
